At πΉRRISπΉ, we have been hosting Kids & Mom (for toddlers, on Saturdays) and Baby & Mom (for infants, on Thursdays) events since October. These events have two main objectives:
For the children, it’s to help them get used to people (teachers and friends) and the environment (the school). The goal is for them to feel comfortable and enjoy their school life as soon as possible.
For the parents, it’s to reduce the anxiety and burden of separation and to promote interaction among parents.”
On the day of the event, friends who will become classmates starting in April and their parents joined us (*ββ½β)β¨β¨β¨
π°Todayβs Lesson

πDonguri Korokoro (Rolling Acorns)
πHayashi de Hirotta Yo (We Found Them in the Forest)
π¨ Pinecone Kendama
π¨Acorn Maracas
The lesson began with a cheerful “Nice to meet you” and “Let’s be friends!” (*ββ½β) πππ

We read “”Donguri Korokoro”” and learned about the many kinds of acorns and their growth process. Following that, we explored “”Hayashi de Hirotta yo””, which detailed the leaves of trees, the process of autumn foliage, and the development of acorns and pinecones.
The children were absolutely captivated by the adorable acorns and pinecones, while the parents couldnβt stop exclaiming βWow! Oh, really?οΌΌ(βoβ)οΌοΌβ as they discovered various plant types and their growth stages. (Β΄βο½*)ο½³οΎοΎβͺ”
At πΉRRISπΉ, our method is all about ‘Learn and Experience Immediately (ο½γ»Ογ»Β΄)γ!’
Without delay, the children are now creating their very own Pinecone Kendama! Letβs get started! Ω©( βΟβ )Ω β¨β¨β¨
π¨ Pinecone Kendama
Materials: 1 pinecone, a plastic cup, jute string, stickers, etc.
β Securely tie the pinecone with the jute string.
β‘Cut a small slit in the bottom of the plastic cup. Thread the string attached to the pinecone through the slit, cut it to the desired length, and tie a firm knot to secure it.
β’Cover the slit area with stickers or tape to ensure itβs safe and smooth.
β£Decorate the body of the plastic cup with stickers or other designs you like.
Tip: You can also use a paper cup instead! Let the children draw on it or add stickers for a personalized touchβboth work wonderfully! π

A super simple Pinecone Kendama that even 1-year-olds can enjoy is complete! πγΎ(β§β½β¦)οΎπππ
Now, letβs move on to the next activity: Acorn Maracas! ( ο½γΌΒ΄)γ πΆβ¨
π¨ Acorn Maracas
Materials: A few acorns, 2 plastic cups, Clear tape, Stickers or other decorations
β Place a few acorns into one of the plastic cups.
β‘Cover the cup containing the acorns with the second plastic cup, aligning their rims. Secure them tightly with clear tape to prevent the cups from coming apart.
β’Decorate the outside of the cups with your favorite stickers or designs.

Itβs so simple and fun to shake! πβ¨ Everyone enjoys making noise with the maracas! ππ°

Afterward, the parents also enjoyed the art with natural materials π¨. I hope that they were able to take a moment to relax, away from the busyness of parenting and household tasks, and enjoy both the art and chatting with other parents. ππππ
Kids & Mom (for toddlers, held bi-weekly on Saturdays) and Baby & Mom (for infants, held on Thursdays) are currently ongoing.
Next month, we’ll be featuring Christmas π picture books and arts & crafts π¨.
Everyone, gather at πΉRRISπΉ! (=οΎΟοΎ)οΎπππ
