Today was the final day of school, and we welcomed the new year with freshly handmade Toshikoshi Udon! 🎉ヾ(≧▽≦)ノ✨✨✨

📚 “Udon no U-yan”
The day’s theme was udon! Before diving into making our own handmade noodles, we read the picture book “Udon no U-yan.”
👶 The reactions from the little ones:
Child 1: “I want to eat it now~! (੭ु´・ω・`)੭ु⁾⁾💦”
Child 2: “I can’t wait any longer! ( `ー´)ノ” (Our Toddler friends sure know how to speak their minds! 😂💦)
Child 3: “I want to eat, too~! ( ̄д ̄)”
👩🏫 The teachers:
“Alright, alright, no Konbu no Buu-san today—let’s get started with making udon!”
“(We had planned to read “”Konbu no Buu-san”” alongside preparing the dashi broth, but the persistent “”Let’s eat already!”” calls won us over… 😭💧)
It turned out to be a delightful day filled with giggles, floury hands, and delicious homemade udon! What a perfect way to end 2024 and look forward to the New Year! 🎍✨

🥣 Handmade Udon
Ingredients:All-purpose flour, bread flour, lukewarm water, salt, dusting flour
Dashi broth, aburaage, kamaboko
(Parents and teachers enjoyed additional toppings like rolled omelet and chopped green onions.)
Today was a joint cooking session between 🌹RRCD🌹 and 🌹RRIS🌹, where everyone worked together to knead the udon dough! 👏💪✨

Explaining the ingredients for udon: Together, we measure and add bread flour and cake flour into a plastic bag. After adding a pinch of salt, we seal the bag.
Everyone gets serious as they knead the bag, but some friends knead so enthusiastically that the flour bursts out of the bag! ( ̄▽ ̄;)💦💦💦

Once the flour was gently mixed together, lukewarm water was added, and now it was time to knead, knead, knead! The ratio of bread flour, all-purpose flour, and lukewarm water was 1:1:1. Kneading the udon dough felt just like playing with clay.
Student 1)”This is just like clay, right? Σ(・ω・ノ)ノ!”
Teacher)”Yes! You all are so good at kneading because you play with clay so much!”
At first, the flour was crumbly, but gradually, it started coming together in the bag. Everyone was super focused as the dough began to form! 💪✨

Now, it’s time for the Pre-K1 friends to step in! They were going to help with boiling the noodles, preparing the broth, and adding the toppings. However…
Student 1)”I want to eat this just like this~ (੭ु´・ω・`)੭ु⁾⁾!”
Student 2)”This looks like dumplings!”
Teacher)”No, no, the ingredients are the same, but this is udon!” (`ー´)ノ

Student 1)”Can we make pizza instead?”
Student 2)”I just want to eat it like this.”

While the noodles were boiling, this kind of conversation went on endlessly… (;´∀`)💧

After boiling the noodles for several minutes, we check the doneness. (Staff taste-tested). Once we tasted the noodles, it was time to plate everything.

We all joined hands and said, “Itadakimasu” (Let’s eat)!
All the friends from 🌹RRIS🌹 and 🌹RRIS🌹 had seconds and finished their servings.
How was 2024 for everyone?
May 2025 be a wonderful year for all of you.
