In the Infant class, friends enjoy creative play on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and music play on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sounds like a wonderfully balanced week!

Today’s music play is full of fun 🎼🎹📯. It looks like some unusual instruments have made an appearance! 👀❓ What could they be?

💡Ocarina

It’s an instrument created in Budrio, Italy, in the late 19th century, made from materials like clay or plastic. An Italian confectioner is said to have created a clay flute with a Western musical scale (Do-Re-Mi). The name ocarina is derived from the Italian word meaning “little goose.” As for the origin of clay flutes (￣ー￣)❓ \They are believed to have existed since the time of ancient Mesopotamian civilization. As a side note, the ocarina is a closed-pipe instrument, and tonguing is necessary to define the sound contours. Currently in intense training mode～(￣▽￣;)💦💦💦

Enough with the preamble…
Today, we explored musical scales using the ocarina.

「Wow, it makes so many sounds!～」 「I want to try it too！」 Ah, I see! (￣▽￣;)💦💦💦 This ocarina is made of 陶器 (ceramic), so it’s fragile and could break—got to be careful with it! (；ﾟДﾟ)💦💦💦 I quickly moved on to introducing other instruments.

Here we have OTONOMORI. It consists of three types of instruments: a tambourine combined with a drum 🥁, maracas made from two rattles, and a bell 🔔 that produces a beautiful sound.

Since you can see the inside of the maracas, everyone was very curious and excited to see what’s inside! (”ω”)✨✨✨

Believe it or not, this is a castanet! And it’s actually quite challenging to play! (◎_◎;)💧

The xylophone, a favorite for everyone! It’s so easy to play since it produces sound as soon as you strike it. (”ω”)🌟🌟🌟

After playing with all the instruments, everyone joined in a big chorus of Donguri Korokoro!
♪ “Donguri Korokoro” — everyone got into character as acorns, rolling around playfully～ヾ(≧▽≦)ﾉ✨✨✨

Then, they became little worms, wriggling and twisting around～(´艸｀*)🌟🌟🌟

Then, they became little squirrels, squeaking “kyuu-kyuu!” (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ🌰🌰🌰

This month, we’ll have loads of fun with music play and sing lots of autumn songs! ٩( ”ω” )و🍂🍃🍁🎼
