December Cooking Part 2! To wrap up 2024, we made Santa 🎅 hats (”ω”)♪

Santa 🎅 Hat Rice Snacks
Ingredients: puffed rice, marshmallows, butter, and strawberry powder 🍓

By the way, does everyone know what “puffed rice” is? (￣ー￣)❓

💡 What is puffed rice?
Puffed rice is made by heating and pressurizing rice in a machine called a grain expansion machine, then rapidly releasing the pressure. The “pop!” sound that occurs gave it the name “puffed rice.”
Its origins trace back to a failed experiment at an American university. When starch granules were heated and pressurized, they exploded into a white, expanded form inside a test tube, inspiring the creation of puffed rice.
💡 Why is it called “carrot 🥕”?
Freshly made puffed rice is loose and crumbly. Back in the day, many vendors sold it in cone-shaped orange cellophane bags that resembled carrots 🥕, hence the nickname.

With that introduction out of the way, let’s start cooking! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

This time, the process is quite simple.

Melt the butter, add the marshmallows…

Once it’s all gooey, mix in the puffed rice! ٩( ”ω” )و✨✨✨

Then, color it with strawberry powder 🍓.

The white puffs represent the furry brim of the hat, while the red puffs form Santa 🎅’s iconic red triangular hat. The marshmallow on top symbolizes the fluffy white pom-pom.
