Merry Christmas🎄🎅⛄! Winter School for toddlers and the special winter program for infants are packed with exciting activities! Today’s snack cooking challenge was making Hexenhaus—a delicious gingerbread house (”ω”)🍩🏠🥣♫

💡Hexenhaus
A Hexenhaus (German for “witch’s house”) or Lebkuchenhaus, known in English as a Gingerbread House, is a candy house inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. Originally referring to the witch’s house in the story, the term evolved to mean “a house made of sweets.”
These houses are crafted from gingerbread cookies, Lebkuchen, or spice-infused treats like chocolate, candies, marshmallows, and gummies. Honey-glazed gingerbread or Lebkuchen forms the walls and roof, bound together with royal icing made from powdered sugar and egg whites. Snow-like powdered sugar, along with decorations like chocolates, marshmallows, pretzels, or gummies, complete the magical look.

This time, we used cookies, wafers, finger biscuits, and sponge cake for our creations. Pre-K1 & Kinder friends helped the teachers prepare the materials. ✨ Stay tuned for the final masterpieces!

Child 1: “I want to eat it now~ (੭ु´･ω･`)੭ु⁾⁾!”
Child 2: “It’s fine as it is! (￣д￣)”
Teacher: “No, no, we’re making the gingerbread house before eating! (；ﾟДﾟ)💦💦💦”
With the children looking ready to sneak a bite at any moment, the teachers carefully portion out the ingredients onto plates. Each piece is counted to ensure everything is evenly distributed. Together, everyone works to prepare for the fun ahead! ( *´艸｀)🍪✨

Once the sponge cake base and the “building materials” (ΦωΦ)? (aka the candy parts) were handed out, construction began right away! ( ｀ー´)ノ Using whipped cream as glue, the children carefully assembled their own unique Hexenhaus.

Even the Infant friends enjoyed nibbling on their Hexenhaus creations! ( ٩( ”ω” )و✨✨✨)

After three consecutive days of Christmas 🎄, Christmas 🎅, and Christmas ⛄ event lessons, the festive fun has come to an end. Mission complete! (｀・ω・´)ゞ
